Young God of the Horses

If I had been at Pompeii before AD 79, this is what I would have painted (if such a thing were ever possible). Taking over the riches of murals, columns and fragments of walls, with all the colours in the background, I painted my impressions of an imaginary archway. I prepared my canvas as if it were an ‘al fresco’ mural: tempera and oils, within a highly sculpted frame.
